Description:
  • Participants:

The competition is restricted to the top 32 players of the Classic League's overall statistics. No change in the number there, it will be with 32 players.

  • Conditions to join:

    • At least 100 games played.
    • At least 50% winning ratio.

  • Award of the winner:

The Ultimate Cup with his name on it (that is a real cup, will be shipped to the winner), a special avatar for him with the image of a cup and the player's name on it and also a special cup in the profile.

  • Sign-ups:

This is an important part here. As the activity of some cups tend to be quite bad and also, some people who are able to play here haven't visited the site in a long time, there are going to be strict rules.

    • The Cup will have a password to join. This password will be sent out to the players who meet the requirements to take part. Invites will be sent out every two weeks, this means that the inactive players will have two weeks to decide if they want to join or not. Then, the next bunch of invites will be sent out to the following players on the list, and it goes on.
    • The cup itself will start on January 1st, 2011, at latest, if we have enough players before that, it takes off. The first wave of invites will be sent out on November 1st, 2010.
    • Now the list of players who may join can always change, as you still have 2 months to make it in the top of the standings! Before the invitations are sent, the overall standings is checked and that is the list I will work with.

  • Games:

Games both in the group stage and knockout stage are similar to Playoff games - in fact, they are basically the same, with only one difference: your picks are not restricted. You may pick whatever you want as long as you don't play the same scheme twice. Best of 5, the higher ranked player picks first.

If there is a draw in the Group Stage, the amount of won games should decide the order. If it is still a draw, then the players should replay the games.

  • Schemes:

Classic League schemes: Shopper, WxW, TTRR, Roper, BnG, Elite, Team17, Hysteria.

Please do not spam the comments full with everything nonsense, this will be kept to help you organize your games and to post updates about the cup.

Groups

A deadline has been set for the group stage. By the end of January, I expect all the games to be played. If a player shows no effort to play his/her games and/or to organize a date for them, he is going to be removed from the cup.

We have time until the deadline, but watch out, it might come faster than you think!

[February 03, 2011, 04:24 PM] Hungary Ray: This group is very tough. It is only up to Gonzo to play his games, so far, I ahve been unable to contact him.

Random says he started playing his games against him.

If Gonzo is unable to play his games before the final deadline, the results have to be counted without the games he played, which would mean that we all have 1 wins, but according to the rules, in these cases, the number of games won make the difference.

Now you can understand that this situation is especially uncomfortable for me, since I am the admin of the cup and this would mean me and Random advance into the Knockout stage.

If any complaint comes up because of this, I'm obviously not the one in charge to decide about the outcome.

Seems pretty clear to me... if you take Gonzo out of the equation, everyone is 1-1:

Ray moves on as 1st because he won the most rounds,
even though Random00 has won more rounds than Dulek, Dulek beat Random00 and should pass as 2nd.

why should be took off if he managed to actually played vs. an opponent
also imo it wouldn't be fair for Dulek to "delete/ignore" a won game by him  :-[   (it's bo5,so more games actually xD )

I agree with you, but they seem to want to disregard the game vs Gonzo.

Group 7 is kind of sick. :D

Ray:   3-0, 2-3, 3-1
  • W: 8
  • L: 4

Random00:   3-2, 2-3, 3-1
  • W: 8
  • L: 6

Dulek:   1-3, 3-2, 3-0
  • W: 7
  • L: 5

If we make the difference based on the number of won games, then Random00 gets the first place, I get the second. :-X As far as I know, that's what decides in such situations. >:(

You played better though Ray lol, you lost less, if it's based on just win, it's a draw?

No, it's not, here's my theory:

If there is a tie like this (so 3 players with the same result - 2:1) we make the difference based on the number of won games. That puts Random00 and me before Dulek. But both Random00 and me have 8 won games and still same result, but since we played against each other and he won, he gets the first place, I get the second.

But true I lost the least games from all three of us. Thing is, you can come up with a lot of different ways to make an order and almost all of those give you a different result.

I want to hear what DarkOne thinks about this.

in my opintinion in Ko should be Ray and Dulek becouse:
Ray lost only 4 rounds  (1 3 0)
Dulek 5 (0 2 3)
and Random 6 (3 2 1)
