Cups and Tournaments Comments / Re: Cup #1092, 20$ Intermediate Cup
« on: January 07, 2020, 10:11 AM »
Hi there Master, so you're still wormin' ?  :)

Hmm group 8 is the "Group of Death" in this cup... Also it says cave-cave-isle-isle for the bo3 games - is this definitely right? The convention would be isle-isle-cave-cave.

Good on ya, Tomt! For organising something AND for giving default intermediate some playtime; the inclusion of crates (and dud mines) gives a different challenge with its own merits. I might join if you need players. I might also contribute a few bucks to the prize pot  :)

Yes indeed, Happy Christmas to everyone! Enjoy the food, the booze, the presents, and the mirth - and don't forget about Jesus  :)

as Bloopy pointed out, in many Western countries it's actually more expensive to execute someone than it is to imprison them for life. I know that seems counter-intuitive, but it's the truth.

Those tournaments were organized by Giga not by ESL. Giga TV hosted some showmatches on german television and did the "Giga Liga".
Thank you for the correction. I remember several years ago players on WN, often Germans, saying "gigaliga jemand?"

I thought I recognised ESA, but I've realised I was thinking of ESL, who did a televised Elite tournament several years ago. I suspect this 4-worm normal mini-tournament was cobbled together using players who had come to do speedruns in other games. If they want to do another one next year, people from the online community (TUS, ONL, CWT, FTM) could perhaps travel there to boost it up. I myself would go to London or Manchester, say, but not overseas. A problem however is that playing together on one PC and talking about what you're doing while you're doing it, is not what we WormNetters are used to.

(Edit: the scheme they used was "Tournament")

I found this earlier. Does anyone know anything about it?

Bravo  ;D

Maybe some credit should be given to Godmax for being one of the first to discard condoms, in the context of his four-in-a-bed romps (alongside Tobi). Other f@#!ers may have been inspired by him.

This is the game that has temporarily replaced worms in my life. It will probably take you several runs (or "timelines") to get into it, but it will be worth it.

I agree as well. IMO pop(ular) music is like classical music, in that it followed a "journey"; with classical, it goes: early > baroque > classical > romantic > modern; with pop, it goes: 60s > 70s > 80s > 90s. Music-makers build on what went before them, and when they come to the end of the journey, it isn't really possible to continue. The reason we don't get good pop music anymore is therefore the same as why we don't get great symphonies and concertoes anymore.

But we are "old men" (I'm 36) and maybe our minds have closed to new things (video games as well as music). Or maybe we are speaking the truth. Either way, I'm glad I'm a 90s kid and not a 00s kid  :)

Interesting, thanks for posting. I especially like the idea of being suspended in mid-air at the end of a retreat.

I have a tiff image of about 3000 x 2300 pixels, 300dpi (20 MB), which I want to increase to roughly 8000 x 6000. Can anyone advise me on the best program(s)/algorithm(s) to accomplish this? I already have an adobe-produced version and the windows 10 MS Paint version, which are almost identical. And these are actually decent quality, so I'm mainly wondering if you can do better.
