I know, I personaly don't care so much about this, but I've seen more than one person complaining about this and I think "newcomer" sounds better. All words of all languages are different from each other, even synonyms have differences. That's the beauty of each word, each one has a different power, each one fits better depending on the situation.

I think these tags are not used fairly. I've seen many players complaining, deleting accounts and maps due to this tags. Many maps that people spent hours doing. You know, depending on your experience and the program you use to make maps, you can spend hours, and hours, days editing a map to receive a bad tag, okay some maps may not have the best graphics, but some are very well tested, very funny, but then they receive a tag like that, and no one notice the map. Some of the WMDB tags are not very used like the one "sprites" and "open" for example. But the bullying ones, these ones they keep using. They tag maps they don't play. The ones tagging sometimes are not even very good on map making. So many aspects you could tag a map... If it is well tested, if it is well humored, if it has a story written in it, etc. For me it is a complete bullying system.

You know, even ALLMUSIC, ROLLINGSTONE very rarely rate artists with less than 3 stars, because there is no point for rating bad every album you listen. You know, as a reviewer you may prejudice the carreer of musicians. And in WMDB even the ones that make their first maps keep receiving these bad tags. This is not a stimulus for people beginning on map-making.

People who make their first maps start with a very bad incentive. And the trolls will be more active with a bullying system. I've seen many Mole Shopper maps criticising WMDB reviewers, they simply make the map private (if they don't delete them) and ignore the criticism. Many years have passed and this only creates toxicity.

Not sure if this is the ideal place to post this, but I have a suggestion/criticism made by sbs. He is very active in WMDB, but he doesn't like that TUS have this "Newbie" tag when you create an account here. I know the developers of TUS and WMDB are different, and this fusion could be hard to implement, but that's the feedback I'm sending here by sbs.

Well Worm Selection is there to avoid the practice of Worm Rotation Tactic. This turns the game even more oriented as an artillery scheme, so the one winning doesn't need to worry so much after several hard shots he did if the opponent will easily recover without the need of so many skillful shots. The tactics of teleporting next to a worm or grouping allied worms or friendly fire attacks or suicides will probably not be as useful now in this scheme.

The Worm Selection is there because some people don't like random order of worms. Now definitely answering your question: Worm Selection doesn't end hot-seat time is an important feature v3.8 allowed this scheme to use it because you can change worms during the whole 10 seconds of hot-seat time, before v3.8 if you did that you'd have only one second to do this and still find time to attack. Now you can select the worm you want to play in 4 seconds, use the remaining 6 seconds to think on what to do and prepare an attack and then attack using the whole second.

I just wanted to say that Kaleu and I tested this scheme with 9 seconds fuse grenades. In my opinion it is an interesting feature to the scheme, however Kaleu was not convinced enough about this and prefered to keep the scheme as it is, with not so many changes to the original one. So, I suggest people to try playing with 9 seconds grenades to see if they are ok with the idea, since it can be useful with LG shots or "+" bounce.

 Ah and by the way: I like the Team17 scheme that was being used in WL (Worms League) or the one Deadcode often plays. I vote for it to be the official T17 scheme from now on.

About Selecsteria and Hysteria, I think both schemes should exist, since many players don't like the Worm Rotation tactic and many players like it.

I don't know, most of the schemes I wrote are not very known, but the idea would be a league with only different or new schemes. Schemes that most people don't know. It would be good to make people try new stuff.

Other names I thought: 3.8 League (only 3.8 schemes), ESO League (only Extended Scheme Options schemes), RubberWorm League (only RubberWorm schemes), Alternative League, Scheme Promotion League, Rotative League (the schemes of this league would change periodically, with short seasons), etc.

The idea may "flop", but since we are in a "new era" I think it worths a try.

Like in other games such as League of Legends, Clash Royale and Hearthstone they release often new gameplay modes to people try, some game modes people like, others don't. They do this to people don't get bored of playing, it is good to play variants from the main game sometimes. In league of legends there was a game mode called Dominion that never made a big succes (and one day they removed it from the game, only introducing it rotatively sometimes), but ARAM (All Random All Mid) was one created by the players that became an official very popular game mode. It was not played competitively, though. Another game mode that people loved but only appeared rotatively and not competitively is URF (Ultra Rapid Fire). Later TFT (Teamfight Tactics) become an official mode.

It is hard to make a new variant that people like and play, but at least we could try. If people don't discover and try new ideas we will never know if they will like in fact. If the schemes receive a proper league, maybe people will try them, I don't know. Particularly, one thing I liked about Worm Olympics is that new schemes were often appearing there and even these new schemes received special icons for the medals. You can still see the replays of these alternative schemes that are stored on the website, this is nice. In TUS we do have new schemes being hosted in tournaments or even in cups, but I still think WO was more receptive to new schemes, people also usually played more the new schemes, they used to host alternative schemes that appeared in previous WOs, sometimes during the same WO these schemes were hosted many times. In TUS the chance to a tournament "flop" is higher I think. Maybe because in WO people were crazy about winning no matter the scheme just to receive more points and stay in first positions of the whole event.

These sound very good ideas to me. I am the guy who don't like drums in WxW. People will never agree 100% with a scheme, so adding more variants would be great.

I need to say that there are schemes I consider Variations which are minimal changes to a scheme and Original Variants which are "heavy variations" or "fusion of schemes", schemes that are similar to an existing one, but they change the gameplay so much that we cannot really say it is just a simple variation. Original Variants are too original to be a variation, but too similar to one or more schemes to be a very original idea.

I would like to compare Taxonomy of Worms schemes with Biological Taxonomy in which we use Binomial nomenclature to determine species. There's the Genus (the Generic Name) and the specific epithet. All schemes classified in the same Genus would be accepted as a valid TUS league choice, schemes classified as a different genus would be considered another scheme. For example: Island Team17 and the Old TUS League Team17 are from the same genus (Team17), they are variations of the same idea. Mole Shopper and Shopper may have similar aspects, but their gameplay is completely different, so they might be from the same Family or even Order/Class/Phylum/Kingdom (more probable), but they are definitely not from the same genus, so you cannot report a game of Mole Shopper saying you won a Shopper game.

BTW, maybe one day I'll try to make a classification tree with the taxons of the Worms schemes.

Hi it is 2021 and we are playing with version 3.8.1 which means RubberWorm and TestStuff are officially inside the new scheme format. This game has a lot of schemes that are not available in TUS leagues. Now all existing RubberWorm and TS schemes can be easily played and there are no RubberWorm schemes in TUS leagues. The community changed a lot, so why not add new schemes to TUS leagues?

Just take a look into Schemes page and Scheme ideas page or maybe TUS schemes list. Some people think they are the best because they play 1 scheme of all existing in WA, even the "allrounders" of TUS probably don't play so many schemes of WA.

I know, the more schemes, the more complicated it will be to administrate the league, but I think it would be interesting to try the idea. Maybe this could be a "Funner League" or something like that... Maybe a not so serious league...

I don't know the others but I would participate in a league with the underground schemes...

I would like to see a league with Neocombat, Quickdraw, Plop Gum, Black Hole BnG, Driver, Goku Battle Arena, Rope Knocking, Skinflint Roping, Teleporting, Hand to Hand, Space Race, Pool, Beef Race, Hoops, Supermarket Shopper (this one is being played quite frequently in WormNET), Rowy, Power Prodder, Hide and Seek, Snooker, Boom for Weapons, Flat Earth Apocalypse, Drown Syndrome, Worms Chess, Ghost Knocking (this one is not actually so underground), Trench Warfare, Worms Basketball (this one is well known too), Dabble and Fidget, Special War (or one of its variants), Sally Shopper, Kill The King and so many others...

There are also those schemes that would be complicated to be in competitive scenario like Board Game.

Not to say Kaleu schemes like Selecsteria and Freemediate, but these are proposals for already existing leagues... Dario's 80normal is a similar case (this scheme is being played frequently).

Also, the league could receive some of the ZaR schemes too, specially if Kradie stops posting fake news and conspiracy theories.

I also like the scheme Board Game, specially sbs maps + schemes, Gnork maps + schemes too, and some others I don't remember the nickname.

I like Board Game wormy adaptations too, also called "Table Game" schemes. One of my favourites is Worms Chess by sbs. But there are many, like 4 in a row, 5 in a row, Ludo, Quoridor, etc.

I found it, but it was made for 3.8, so in 3.8.1 is not guaranteed that it'll work, also if you read what the uploader said, there is some "burocracy" to do in order to it work. So, the release is not very official, might have some bugs too. If you try it, it would be good to know your experience with it. There's a wormkit module based on PX that people are talking in Discord. Actually it is available for download but I didn't try it yet. I'm not sure if it is officially released, but it is called wkJellyWorm.
