I have two suggestions for HB improvements:

-Holes on mole shopper maps hosted with HB do not seem to be randomized correctly. Without testing exhaustively I think they are always the same.

-If possible please display map dimensions in green text along with the other info (# colors, holes etc).

Thanks!!!!

Added, please try it. You can change the hole seed with "!seed hole random" followed by a "!reload".
Works beautifully. This removes the guesswork out of hosting "bigger than regular but not unplayably huge" maps. The seed hole command works great too. Very nice work. Thank you CyberShadow!

Hey Cybershadow, could you possibly create a "!holes" command which combines the "!seed hole random" and "!reload" commands?

All mole shoppers, burning girders, and holy wars hosted with HB should by default force a random seed even when the map is changed. Even if this has unforeseen negative effects on certain maps, the benefits would outweigh those problems.

And the commands should be added to http://worms2d.info/HostingBuddy. Currently nobody knows about "!seed hole random" command because it's too long, it's not in the wiki, and because it requires a !reload.

I for one greatly appreciate the work you've done already upgrading HB. Adding the ability to see things like number of colors and holes was huge. And creating it/hosting it in general. I am one of the people blocked at ISP level who cannot host without HB or WormNAT.

Just found this WA zine from April 2007 on one of my old HDDs. It has lots of interesting stuff including an interview with Cybershadow about the upcoming bigmaps patch, and a screenshot from WA 4.1.2. Made by Perfect (from clan BFW) before he disappeared into the military.
it's still available on BFW website: http://wormies.com/?file=goodies
Hmm... good catch. I get a 403 forbidden error though. It didn't occur to me to check the BFW site. Assumed it would be long dead.

Map caching or a way to downvote certain maps from always appearing would reduce the !map spam a lot.

Do you have a Paypal link for donations?

I am not asking too much. In fact, I am asking for next to nothing. Yet, as I have been previously in this thread, I fully expect to be harangued again for not treating DC & CS like gods who can do no wrong, just because they're volunteers. It is not written anywhere that volunteers can not be called out for a lack of communication or not be compared to other volunteers in similar situations that communicate much better (see my prior post about MarathonMan, who continues to consistently update about his slow progress).

Hi,

The state of the update is essentially "when it's ready" taken too far. Almost everyone involved with the updates one way or another agrees that it should have been released a long time ago. It has been very demotivating for me as well to have my work from many years ago to still not have seen the light of day.

This is why we agreed that Worms Armageddon v3.8 will be released not later than December 31, 2017 (plus however long Team17's release process takes), ready or not. Unfinished features will be cut, buggy or insufficiently tested changes reverted. There are already many good changes queued to make a great update. I will do my best to ensure this happens personally.
That's really great to hear!!!! I'm sure the update will deliver a big infusion of old players back to the community. Can we anticipate any new features, or is it mainly bugfixes? As far as I can remember there hasn't been much information about the contents of the 3.8 update.

To all map authors:  If your map is for a scheme with destructible terrain, please for the love of god make it 65 colors or less.

You could get one of those wireless couch-surfing keyboards with a built-in touchpad.
But the ones I've tried/owned (Microsoft AIO and Logitech K400) are AWFUL for any kind of gaming. You won't want to be roping, or even any fast ground schemes requiring accurate keypresses.

Desktop wireless keyboard + mouse ftw. I use a Logitech K800 (backlit) wireless keyboard + mouse combo from the couch and it works great for roping or anything else. K800's are a bit expensive but you can find them refurbed a lot cheaper if you search a bit.

How to turn windowed mode using this?
wkSuperFrontendHD=fullscreen. It acts like a window because you can still shift-esc or alt-tab easily. If you want "windowed" mode (able to see desktop) you must use D3d9Wnd instead. With d3d9wnd you still won't have the traditional "_ □ X " window controls for the frontend and there's no top bar to move the window around. The 'window' is anchored to the top left of your screen. D3d9wnd can however make the in-game part fully windowed, with the top bar and X, which can be moved around.  You can use both D3d9wnd and wkSuperFrontend together for the best overall results - they are fully compatible with each other.

Does it work without wormkit enabled? If yes then enable modules one by one to isolate.

Why not just reinstall though? It takes 5 minutes and alot simper than troubleshooting this rarefied issue. Just back up your user folder and any modules first.

Oh, never mind, I thought it was a different league altogether, on a different website.

Woah...... I just noticed ...... TUS is dead????  I went to seasons information and it says the current season is disabled. If that's true it's a real shame!! TUS is an amazing site and league. Are there plans to start it up again?

We have default / rope and allround leagues now, and they are far more active than the last classic season was.
Link? I doubt it has nice graphs and stuff like TUS. What's the point reinventing the wheel?  ???

In advanced settings slide the "map memory warning" option all the way to the right.

So you made some maps in the map editor, and some schemes, and edited the menu graphics. Anything else? No new weapons or anything?

That 2v2 idea is excellent.. where the clans split the points. That would really help activity.
I also like the idea where individual classic stats are taken into account for clan games.
I'd say max 6 active players per clan sounds about right.. would that cause any serious grief with anyone?

How about some kind of "draft lottery" - each season 1 non-playoff clan that played at least 20 games is randomly selected (weighted by standings) to draft any player (of their choosing) who played less than 10 games from one of the playoff teams. The drafted player must remain with that clan for at least 1 season. The specific details would have to be fine-tuned obviously..
