I think it's fine to play huge sets of games with players, one example are 2 top ropers like oldsock and blitzed who regularly play huge sets of games, also Xrayez and VoK are doing it a lot recently as well, but those are all highly experienced players and not trying to abuse the system, they simply want high level matches with each other and enjoy it.

This is true. And that's one of the reasons why I wouldn't want to play TUS, I don't want to be called out as an avoider, and I don't like to constantly say "No, thanks" to people who see me and VoK playing together and want to play against me as well. It's probably not a big deal nowadays due to low activity, though.

But again, this is not a big deal, those games I played with VoK are just fun nostalgia moments, nowadays I'd like to concentrate on other aspects in my life.

Damn, am I becoming oldschool?  :D

Off Topic / Re: Tattoos
« on: January 30, 2021, 01:04 AM »
I wouldn't make a tattoo, because life may change drastically. What a person tries to portray in those tattoos may not hold true anymore. The same applies to those happy memories which may be spoiled by either a bad memory or another bad circumstance (recall all those "broken love" movies from 70-80s). Or they simply may fade away and you wonder why there're still there.  :)

For men, tattoos may be a symbolism of power, but in most cases it's illusionary. If we also take the pseudo-feminism trends nowadays, women may also choose to make tattoos for similar reasons, to become more like men (rather than being a liberated woman, which I think this is what feminism should be about, it shouldn't be about power per se, which modern media is trying to make us believe, but I'm going slightly off-topic here).

It's like, are we ready to wear a single T-shirt throughout our lifetime with the same image on it (that would be practically the same thing as having a tattoo, except that it's not directly on your body). So, that's a reason why people choose to make tattoos under the wear, so they can hide them from public view, and eventually it becomes intimate. And as they say, being intimate means being vulnerable, yet people avoid being vulnerable most of the time.

That said, there's some degree of dichotomy when it comes to making a tattoo or not, and I think that's again mainly due to social pressure rather than a personal choice.

Of course there are other reasons, but that's something which I feel is relevant today.

I think I'm close to beat Walrus record, but I guess not with the method I'm currently doing it.  :-X

I know no one with corona, or anyone that knows anyone that have/had it.

I know that influenza kills a lot more or aligned with corona death numbers.

But sure, be always careful with the flu aka corona propaganda driven disease.

Anecdote: I started playing Minecraft before pandemic thingy, and in the development version they added splash text related to non-existing pandemic (wasn't actually shown to players, only on the data level).

Source: https://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Splash#cite_ref-COVID_9-0
Version with the splash text added: https://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Java_Edition_19w34a

19w34a is made on August 22, 2019. According to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/COVID-19_pandemic, the outbreak allegedly started in Wuhan, China, in December 2019. That's like, 4 months before that.

Now, the question is, how did the people behind Minecraft could possibly know about this? Even if there was some alarming signs of potential outbreak, why did Minecraft choose to pre-add those messages anyway?

Coincidence? Definite conspiracy. :D

And yeah, those splash messages is the reason why I stopped playing Minecraft... One of those keep telling you:

Stay home and play video games!

No thanks, I'll play games when I want to, not when you tell me to.   >:(

I really try to avoid being bombarded with those news related to the virus nowadays. I cannot tell whether those cases are for real or they just learnt to identify the virus which existed long before, and they could just align the data to those death cases. We really don't know. All we know is what they tell us really. The anxiety this causes probably makes more harm to people than the virus itself. Perhaps not in the short term, but definitely in the future. Fear, discrimination, "self"-isolation, freaking idea of social distancing... Just bad.

I wonder whether it's possible to go for 0 turn time now.  :D

Thanks for expressing the interest.  :)

Any rope implementation that's somewhat like WA's is awesome.  What's your thought on licensing for this game?  It'd be sad if the project disappeared some day since it's so cool.

Yeah, I feel like I've managed to come up with some decent implementation of rope mechanics which is more or less close to W:A, but still need some bug fixing. I haven't showcased this yet.

What's your thought on licensing for this game?

It's kind of a difficult topic. I'd lie if I say that I don't want to have some commercial gain out of this project eventually. But that's equally difficult thing to do in my country which blocks most financial routes. So what I'm left with is continuing the development at whatever pace. If there are any lawyers out there who could donate their time to resolve those questions, would be great.

But yeah, perhaps I could start releasing some development builds, and as long as I don't publish the source code I should be fine.  :D

Perhaps gaining more audience is better. But perhaps I announced this too early.

I mean, if this has any chance to become popular, I'm afraid I won't be able to deal with both positive and potential negative effects.

But perhaps I'm simply overthinking this.

It'd be sad if the project disappeared some day since it's so cool.

I'm still working on this, even if not directly.

Considering the fact that there are other Worms-inspired games that keep popping here by other developers, I think I'll have to start doing the same in order to be able to compete.  :P

I think I've figured out the way used by top 3, indeed requires some grinding... It's no secret that it's the rope grinding specifically because see Nonentity record. :D

Impressed by the times...

Are you sure you don't have destructible terrain on?  :D

Don't want to look at replays to see the solution for now.

You did what team17's whole dev team f@#!ed up

Fun fact.. He told me it took him 3 months :D

I think usually it does take initial 3-6 months to build up features with the progress visible to others, then the rest of the time is usually the "boring" task of fixing bugs.  :D

koalefant joined my discord like 3 months ago as well and I'm kind of scared to think what this can turn into in the future.  :-[

Yet we've been talking about various ways on implementing rope mechanics and shared other programming ideas, lets hope this can turn into cooperation.

We're the roping syndicate now.  ::)
