Maybe we should sign a petition to ban Mole Shoppers?
Mole shoppa, like torn/ripped jeans on young women, is a mere fad and will disappear in a few years.

You mean yourselves.

Mole is the most strategy & tactical based game, just like chess. Everybody who doesn't enjoy it is simply a sub-human. Unless you play on a resolution higher than 1366x768. If so, then I feel sorry for you, cuz you probably suck at jumping from pixel to pixel. Streamed 1920x1080 looks like sh*t.

Bahahaha....

Mole Shopper is a joke, my friend. It is basically a noob version of regular shopper in which you don't even need rope skills, or one could look at it as a sort of dumbed-town Team17. Much of the game is total luck and randomness and requires very little strategy compared to, say, Elite or Intermediate at high levels. The reason why so many noobs play Mole is because it's so easy and basically anyone has a chance of winning regardless of personal skill.

Luck based scheme? Dude, I would easily crush you in this scheme 300x times in a row. Everything is a skill over there
- hiding
- mole as a bumerang
- knowing when to steal, when to invade
- sprint across the map + parachute jumps to extreme extent
- the best possible executions, even with the worst weapons that you've got

Dude, I mean it. I will pay you 40$ if you ever defeat me in 20 games. Do you accept the challenge? It's so annoying to have ignorants like you, calling everything they don't know "Luck-Based". It's just sh*t mentality.

Mole shopper is no more difficult to play at a decent level than any other scheme. It is incredibly basic, in fact. I would never play 20 games of mole shopper vs. anyone because it's boring and too lucky for my tastes. I've played plenty of mole shoppers, so it's not like I don't know the scheme and how it is played. I'm not ignorant and lacking the super duper moleshop secrets to winning. Hiding, stealing, invading, chuting, etc... all of this stuff is present in many other schemes. To say that mole shopper is the most tactical/strategic scheme is ludicrous and lots of people agree. Not trying to get you pissed off or whatever because clearly you love it but that's how I view it. To me, mole is just a funner scheme to play when nobody else feels like playing something more serious in AG. There's a reason why it is so popular amongst noobs... because it is very easy to play and almost anyone has a chance of winning, especially in 4-6 player games. Random luck plays a huge part in the game whether you can recognize that or not.

@kinslayer - what are you saying? be a man, go on...

I never enjoyed Rocket League all that much because quite frankly it was/is boring. I wasn't bad at it. It just didn't hook me whatsoever. I had it for PS4 and played maybe 100 hours or so if I recall.

PubG might be a decent game now but when I had it, it was terrible. It was horribly unoptimized, full of game-breaking bugs, laggy, etc. I didn't see what all the fuss was about. Fortnite is a much better game IMO but even still I just don't think it's all that fun. The single player campaign stuff is far too grindy and the online battle royale mode is not only highly luck dependent, but also if you don't develop the ability to use a crapload of macros and build forts in 3 seconds, you're screwed vs. good players. When I watch gameplay footage of some players I don't even understand what is going on sometimes because they are doing things so fast that it looks like the video is sped up, but it's not. Their ability to construct elaborate fortifications while also doing normal shooter stuff is insane. I respect the skill and dedication involved but even if I was as good as they are, I'd still find the game boring ultimately.

Over the past several years I've had an extremely difficult time finding games that I like. I've been a devoted gamer all my life, starting with an Atari 2600 back around 1985, I think. The last console experience that I truly enjoyed was probably the original Xbox because that was right before everyone was online and games started getting stupid with day-one DLC, p2w, and endless grinding. Speaking of grinding, that's why I can't enjoy MMO's. I've played several, most of them really, and while some have kept my attention for longer than others, I inevitably get bored with them because there's nothing to do but grind, grind, grind. Personal skill doesn't really matter in those types of games... just what gear you have.

The sorts of games that I enjoy most are games that do not require grinding, games that are skill-based, and games that make you feel like you're "in the zone." That's why I tend to prefer older games. Modern games have great graphics and sound but they feel more like an interactive movie than a video game to me. Worms (especially W:A) has a great balance of artillery gameplay, strategy, and other skill-based competencies that players naturally develop as they play... there's basically an infinite amount of maps you can play on and while some game types are very meta and 'samey,' generally speaking each game is a different experience. However, one thing that can suck about Worms games is not having competition of your skill level or higher because if you are quite obviously better than your opponent then where's the fun? Just to practice? Personally I prefer playing against the absolute best players because I want to be pushed and challenged, whatever the scheme. Sadly, most of the best players don't even play the game anymore.

I love fighting games, arcade-style shoot 'em ups, turn-based strategy games (as long as they aren't boring and require a ridiculous amount of micromanagement like Stellaris, for example), platformers, tower defense, RPG, RTS, racing, and some sports games from time to time, especially golf. I haven't found a game in at least 2-3 years that I consider addictive, which is why I have been playing W:A again actively. I feel like most newer games don't have much replay value either due to being shallow or simply uninteresting. I sold my PS4 well over a year ago because I was basically only using it for Netflix and Hulu, as the only games on the system that I enjoyed I had already played a bunch. Resogun was one of my favorites, and I played a shitload of Worms Battlegrounds as well and pretty much demolished everyone.

I still play W:A because it is the best game ever made, period.

There's so many ways to play the game and so many skills and competencies to be developed. The game itself never gets boring... what gets boring is playing with randoms who don't know what they're doing. As long as you have skilled and cool people to play with, W:A never gets old.

I have a ton of games and nothing has the addictiveness and replay value of W:A. I have Fortnite, Rocket League, PubG, etc... all of the crap that people think is great these days and none of it was able to keep my attention for more than a week.

Not really on topic but oh well... haha...

I went to Electric Forest not this past year but for the 2 before that, and plenty of other events including one festival so far this summer... honestly I'm just getting burned out on that festival/rave life. In my teens and 20's I was all about it... traveling around to shows and getting crazy f@#!ed up and hearing bands and dj's and stuff but while I'll always be a rave / festi kid at heart, I just don't have the heart for the lifestyle anymore lol. Not only do I feel old as f@#! going to those events (even though there's plenty of people my own age or older) I just don't experience the novelty anymore. I can definitely see why some people would love it though, especially if they are younger, more social, and/or less experienced.

Toxic, I do agree with you on the U.S. EDM 'bass music' thing though. EDM sucks and most of the popular shit played at events these days is craaaaap... Europe definitely has a better electronic scene IMO. And Japan. And basically anywhere but the U.S... the U.S. scene has good stuff, don't get me wrong, but it's just drowned out by crap like dubstep and big room house and other stuff that I can't stand. I DJ here at house parties occasionally in town and I'm literally the only dude in town who plays techno, who plays electro, who plays breaks, who plays acid, trance, goa, psytrance, etc. 90% of the DJ's here play dubstep or some dubstep subgenre. There's one guy who plays D&B/jungle/neurofunk, and like 2 guys who play some decent house although not not 100% the kinda house that I'm into, which is proper deep house (not this new shit pretending to be deep house), acid house, New Jersey / New York house, etc. This is a problem in most of the places I've been in the last several years as well, which are mostly in the Midwest since I don't travel too far anymore. (Can't afford it!) The scene has become very homogenized, bland, myopic, cookie-cutter, rehashed... in my opinion. I still have a bunch of buddies who go to every event they possibly can and save money all year long for summer so they can go rage out. To that I say: meh. :)

Anyway, just rambling here but I guess I just wanted to chime in and say that it sounds like you're having a lot of fun Toxy but I couldn't do it. I'm not into any drugs anymore whatsoever aside from shrooms once in a blue moon and I also have found myself disliking being around huge crowds of people more and more the older I get... last summer I ate shrooms probably once a week for the whole summer and while it was kinda fun at first, by the end I found myself thinking that I just wanna be done with it all because - as surprising as it is for me to say this given my past - I think that sobriety is actually way more fun than being intoxicated, especially when you've already experimented with basically all of the drugs lol. I think that one of my two main gripes about most big events are:

1. the people - basically they either ramble on incoherently about dumb revelations they're having while tripping balls, or they do nothing but talk about drugs, where to get the drugs, who has the best drugs, what drugs they have, what drugs they've done... ffs who cares

2. The productions are way more theatrical than they used to be. When I think of a rave I don't think of gigantic screens and 10 million watt lasers and shit, with effigies and animatronics and whatnot. I think of a super dark room that is fogged out with very minimal lights that are sporadic... I don't wanna be able to see 3 feet away from me. Dark and smoky, baby. I wanna feel like I'm lost. Like I'm alone. I don't wanna be looking at a bunch of sweaty wooks grinding their teeth and smoking blunts lol

I have a bunch of great memories from festivals and stuff though, met some cool people, had some very shady and unprotected sex, took part in lots of shenanigans... it was a good time but at this point in my life I am definitely appreciating HOME. Peace and quiet. No more living on the road! Fuuuuuck that. Being homeless is wack. I've been homeless a couple of times and the shit sucks.

Like I told you on Steam, Star Citizen is pretty... meh. It would be best if you had several friends to play with you at coordinated times and also if you have money to throw at the game because it's very pay to win unless you like grinding your ass off forever. The Morrowind mods are dope though.

I see no problem with submitting any replay at any point as long as the challenge is still technically open.

That said, I thought that it would be fun to try one of these challenges but I only gave it 4 attempts before giving up. I am not used to roping for several minutes at a time and by the end of the map my hands are in total agony. I love Big RR (it's my favorite scheme, in fact) but doing a whole map in one go? Nah. Can't do it. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome + mild Arthritis = nope. My best time was actually my second run, where I hit 182 something and had a ton of mistakes along the way. By the time I finished my 4th attempt I had to go grab some Ibuprofen.

That Ghost guy is crazy. He's always been. He makes up the most elaborate and ridiculous excuses any time he loses a match. Several years ago we were playing a Big RR and I beat him and he said that the only reason why I won was because he was playing W:A via WINE on his Android phone and using the touch screen to rope. Yes, seriously... he said that. He's also made up lots of other dumb excuses / 'explanations' for things.

I remember in the past posting in forums, whatever league it was, and nobody would give me the time of day.

That's how it's been for me forever lol... some people think that if you don't play ranked then you're just a scrub and not worth consideration. Honestly, some of the most epic matches I've ever had with people were who either rarely play for rank or don't at all. There's plenty of players who don't play for rank who are just as good as league players, but that's just my opinion.

As far as past players not self-aggrandizing... ehhh, I dunno about that. :) They might not have posted publicly about it here but I have definitely had some ego-fueled conversations with some of the people mentioned in this thread (and plenty of others), but that's old news and I don't care. I think that a certain degree of egoism comes with playing a game for so many years and competing at a high level. The good news is that ego tripping seems a LOT less prevalent than it used to be. I don't know if that's due to the fact that activity has died down a lot or if people have simply just matured to a point by which they don't feel the need to act in such a way.

These days I am simply happy to just play and practice and work on weaknesses, and hopefully have some cool conversations while doing so.

skunk, I agree with you, I enjoy tense funners as well, but it's hard to find people like that.

It is no more or less hard than finding people to play single/clanner ranked games. *shrug*
#326
Gotcha... although I don't understand why some people feel that a game has to be for rank for it to be exciting. As long as I have good competition I feel tension. I think that the added stress from it being a ranked game kind of saps the fun out of the whole experience, but obviously I'm the minority here. :) To each their own.

General discussion / old schooler spotted

So I just saw Vantage on WormNET... from DwI if you guys remember. I told him about this site and told him to create an account and to post here so he can hopefully link up with some of his old homies. I don't think he's played since about 2005 or so until recently!

What are you guys meaning by "tense game?"

Skunk, I do agree with you on how Husk 1st responded to you, but honestly I think you both over reacted a bit, Husk is a Worms Armageddon legend, I think you should be more patient with him.

He's poured, imo, I could be wrong, at least 15k hours into this game, a fair bit of that included towards this very community, he's on my top 5 list of best players of all time for his variety of skills across every single scheme invented, his loyalty towards his friends, clan, and this community, and i've seen pretty much everything from almost everybody.

He does however have a very blunt way of speaking to people, which does offend some people, but I feel he's a good soul and will always treat him with the respect he deserves even if he pisses me off beyond belief with something(which he never has btw).

Anyway, I miss Darts the most.

I have to carefully consider what I'm going to say here because I don't want anyone getting butthurt. First of all, I don't feel as though I overreacted whatsoever. I didn't insult him. I didn't act like a child. All I did was stand up for myself because if you don't correct people in their asshole behavior they will continue to act in that manner. It's like dog training. He needs to know that his attitude is NOT okay, ever. I have no patience for anyone who acts like that, here or IRL. I also don't give a damn about his (in your eyes) "legend" status. I too easily have 15k hours into this game or more, but the difference is that I haven't given a crap about league play for well over 10 years. I am a very solid all-arounder too but I don't want to get into that because people will try to argue and ridicule and mock and challenge, blah blah blah. I'm not going to make any self-aggrandizing claims because it's not relevant and I know what happens. Being good at the game and/or having a good league record doesn't give one carte blanche to be a prick, especially to me because league records mean absolutely nothing at all in my eyes.
