I agree with Lex completely. Teasers are fine and all, but they are wasted on this group of players. Teasers are more for casuals and newbies to the series. What veterans want is solid information. No tricks, no marketing, no surprises. Team17 has a wealth of veteran players who they could recruit to beta test and provide critical feedback to ensure that any new Worms game is as good as it can possibly be... has ANYONE been selected to beta test? I haven't. I signed up on the Team17 website and I've also been essentially spamming the Steam forums for ages, and nothing. Jonno, I want you to post info, but I just want you to keep in mind what kind of crowd you're dealing with. Many of us are in our late twenties to mid thirties, if not older...

I understand that there are things that you simply aren't allowed to talk about. I get that. However, all I'm sayin' is that we already have a Worms game that we love, so in order for us to rally behind a new title, we need more transparency from Team17. I am excited for WMD, but I can totally understand why many others couldn't care less. The last few Worms titles have been kinda crap.. (compared to W:A)

If it's full transparency you want, you'll get that pretty soon. (Vague I know but when the floodgates open...)

Then i'll be able to answer the vast majority of your questions fully and collate informed feedback from yourselves.

Fun fact - you're the only people the Ninja Rope information was given too, by seeing if any of you made predictions on what you thought the expanded arsenal could be it'd give me a good idea on how you'd receive them. There's method to the madness - I also genuinely wanted to share it with you, as a nod to the Rope Pro community.

I am excited. I am glad that you dropped the rope bomb on us. It must suck being in a community manager type position in which you are contractually bound to not talk about certain things until you're allowed to, and have the gamers pester the f@#! out of you in the meantime, lol.

Nobody has guessed the second 'type' of rope yet - so I'll wager one more guess as I puff on this spliff...

Is it a magic rope that flies around like a magic carpet, but it is steerable, and when you touch terrain, it stops moving and effectively acts as a long, shapeable girder? It'd be cool if the worm would put on a turban and play a flute while this is going on, lol

Nah skunk, I agree with you on some things but ropa is right when he says the physics of WA do indeed have more depth than other Worms titles.

I am not saying the other titles are wrong, they just seem too random at times, i've played most of them and I did enjoy them, but they are only enjoyable for a few weeks then they get boring because they lack the depth WA has.

This is what I am afraid will happen to WMD because it seems they aren't interested in the things we know for sure make the game better.

I fail to understand how the physics have more 'depth' in W:A vs. any of the other new titles. I think that what you mean is that you are more able to accurately predict shots based upon your knowledge of W:A vs. the other games. The reason why the newer games get boring is because of poor choices made by Team17 in terms of stuff we've mentioned before,  like UI, lack of customization, lack of global chat, poor performance on older machines, lack of gameplay features to make worming more enjoyable in general (like stuff that was patched into W:A), etc. Any of the new games could be much, much better if Team17 merely patched them... and if they actually took the time to make them cross-play compatible, they'd be very active. (And fun!)

I just played a bunch of Battlegrounds (for PS4) last night and I gotta say that in my opinion, the opposite is true. Battlegrounds has more depth when it comes to the physics side of things, but that's just my opinion and I guess what you are referring to as 'depth' is still nebulous. To me, the physics in W:A is a bit cartoon-like on the whole, especially when it comes to the ability to make insane boomerang shots with LG + zook in hysteria, or the utterly simplistic way that grenades bounce. In W:A, nades will bounce and bounce and bounce, whereas in the newer 2.5D games, they will only bounce when it makes sense that they should, otherwise they will eventually fall, roll, and come to a stop.

There is nothing wrong with the physics of newer Worms games, skunk3 is right, it's a game, how can they be wrong, are they breaking any laws? No, so shut the f**k up and stop saying they are wrong.

Use the proper term "I don't like it" not "It is wrong because I don't like it".

I never once used the word "wrong". You're just facerolling your head against the keyboard praying something resembling a post comes up just so you can fatten the topic with noise.

I called WA physics superior because they have more depth, simple as. It has different levels of friction, acceleration, force and an incredible amount of different outcomes for any given shot. Worm games after WWP don't have any of that, worms will stick to the ground regardless of angle, power, or friction, likewise weapons.

We can agree to disagree, I'm definetely not going to waste any more efforts trying to convince the two naivest people in the whole forum about something that everyone with half a brain cell and game time already knows.

Ropa's argument style:
1. backpedal
2. insult the other person
3. argue some more (usually just an opinion that he thinks is more correct than anyone else's)
4. more insults

You are simply wrong. W:A physics do not offer more 'depth.' Do you even play the other games? HAVE you played all of them, and if so, where's your Steam stats? How much time have you actually devoted to understanding the newer games?

Worms do not "stick to the ground." They might be stickier in *certain* situations in which they might slide more in W:A (and vice versa), but that's just the difference between the two games. As I said before, there's nothing wrong physics-wise with the newer games. I'm just going to assume that you don't have enough experience with them to understand the differences as compared to W:A. Everything that you said about W:A physics is present in the other games... just different.

Overall, I do prefer the physics model of W:A the most primarily because it is what I am most used to, but there's certain aspects of the physics in other games that I think are much more satisfying and well-made, like fire behavior (petrol bombs, flame thrower, etc), nade bounces/rolls, etc.

Btw does anyone have any replays w/ me that are worth sharing? xD

Here's you in a roper.  We discussed the difference (or rather, lack of difference) between WA and WWP rope physics at the beginning.  I didn't watch most of it, but here you go!  :)

Wow, dude. I actually remember that game. I had just came back from a break (no internet at home to be more productive) and was playing on my laptop, but I was so antsy to play Worms that I played anyway! :) I remember looking at the map and being like.. *eyeroll*... thinking that it'd be a piece of cake, but clearly it wasn't. Thanks for sharing!

it seems you Skunk are trying to grow your reputation (reputation that is down to zero for all the oldschoolers in this forum) by saying you were better than Ropa (for whom people got respect in terms of how good he is as player).

Saying that, why don't you play 10 games VS Ropa? uahuaha I wanna laugh so hard, plz.

I'm not trying to grow anything. I don't care about reputation. If I did, I would have been playing ranked games all along. You're also speaking on behalf of all of the old-schoolers in the forum, as though everyone agrees with you. They don't. I only started posting on TUS because I wanted to talk about Worms W.M.D.... I continued to post because it was fun to catch up with old friends and read through the threads. I've been around long enough that I don't care about ranks, reputuation, or any of that crap. TUS fanatics are an incestuous bunch who primarily only play each other. If you're only playing ranked games, how could you possibly know anything about my abilities as a player? The answer is that you can't.

Like I've said before - I am in AG often and I never back down from a match. If anyone wants to 'prove' something, step on up. I have nothing to prove because the people who know me, know me... The fallacy that one has to play league matches and clanners to be a good player is just that. A fallacy.

dude we were in one clan together once when long done with the game lol

i thought you were joking at first, even people that would do anything but defend me felt the need to step up to such nonsense. but you still going with it as if expecting it to magically become true by sheer repetition

i've been in eif, tea, hos and basically every top clan ever since, current ones inclusive,  i've won contests, awards, and too many finals to remember, i've gone 50-0 and even at one point in WL clan finals I could choose which clan I wanted to play with because I was in both. there's my cock, now put yours next to it so we can all laugh. sigh

There were two, actually, but tbh I can't remember the name of the clans.

The only person who 'stepped up' to defend you was Komo, and Komo was just expressing his OWN personal opinion that is based on basically nothing, as Komo and I have played maybe 2-3 rope-based games in the last several years. Any time I play Komo, it's almost always BNG. I don't consider his opinion very valid, but he is welcome to think whatever he wants to think.

I've been in more clans than I can even remember, including top-ranked ones. I've aliased and tried out for loads of clans and got in based on roping alone. As far as awards and shit, I stopped playing ranked games many years ago. I don't have numbers and medals that I can point to for your 'whose dick is bigger' contest, sorry.

Any time you want to step up and challenge, go ahead.

I dont remember many things, i didint play w2 online, when was that? I dont remember any dyna since wwp

Dynamite was a part of the W:A roper scheme from the very beginning. It was carried over from W2. Somewhere along the way some league people apparently decided that they didn't like it, so they got rid of it.

you telling me this when all you do is post awkward walls of text and story fabrications no one cares about? lol

https://www.tus-wa.com/profile/?area=showposts;u=1278

half of your posts in this forum are made up anecdotes involving people that don't even acknowledge they were there in order for you to delude yourself into imaginary forum brownie points. Invented stories of the past from a guy that sat in #ag playing random funners while everyone played league games, you were our Godmax and now you're posing as the second coming of Jmoberg trying to fool the new school.

You're missing the big picture though, that is, we're all aware  :D Everyone I've had the chance to speak privately with about the mutation of your personality from a half assed lazy fat american that played team17s to some sort of elitist wannabe that can't even rope; "did drugs take a toll on Skunk?" - they all agree. You're a walking parody. Thanks for the laughs.

Cool story bro. Unfortunately, none of what you said is true.

First of all, name one thing I've said that isn't true, or is a blatant lie. When I said that I'm a better player than you, I meant it. I've been in clans with you. I've played with you as partners and I've played vs. you as an opponent. We've played numerous times back then and I was always better than you, period. We haven't played a match together in several years though, so I have no idea if you've gotten better or worse, but back when we played all of the time you were my inferior.

Why would I make up imaginary shit to impress people? What is the incentive? I'm a 35 year-old grown man. I don't need kudos from people in a forum. And speaking of these forum people, I've been challenged by several of them (who I won't name because I'm not petty, unlike you) because of posts I've made. Guess what? Aside from a small handful of games, I've beaten everyone who stepped up. Ropers, hysteria, elite, whatever. I'm not saying this to brag; I'm saying this because you are clueless and simply do not know what you are talking about.

What mutation of my personality are you talking about? I have literally always been like this... nothing has changed. If anything, I am more patient and a bit nicer than I used to be. You speak on the behalf of others as though you have the authority to do so, and as though your claims are actually legit. You've been speaking with people about me? I feel special. Who have you been talking to? If you won't say who, let them go ahead and speak up right here. Step on up, people. Tell me how you really feel, then let's go play some matches to see if you still feel like talking shit afterwards.

Leagues Complaints / Re: Lukz Avoiding

avoiding isn't or shouldn't be about skill. It's about third parties having influence in who gets to playoffs.

It can be used in many ways not necessarily to avoid loses, but to avoid people gaining points in favor of friends / clanmates.

it shouldn't be up to people outside of PO to have influence in who gets in the PO. It should be up to those in the top 8 or 16 or whatever. Or as close as possible to achieving that.

we eliminate the influence by the first come first served rule. Lukz shouldn't get to choose who loses or wins between Baffo and Dibz (let's say two potential PO players) but he's going to influence by making either win or lose points. To remove his influence we use the "play whoever asks" and that's why it's always been either bad mannered or illegal, depending on league, to do what Lukz does here.

It's easy to ignore a player mechanically in WA. If a player is so much of a hassle that someone refuses to play him in a game due to the way he behaves then surely he should be also banned from the website and posting in the forum?

In a world where things make sense.

If anyone needs banned, it's you, lol.

Quote from: skunk3Yeah, W:A (...) is pretty dated graphically, and it has an inferior physics engine than that of the 2.5D games

Lmao, how this guy survives a whole day is beyond me.

how can you be so deluded when you're so terrible at the game and ugly in real life?

Quote from: darkZI imagine you're having trouble understanding what makes this game unique for the competitive community because you haven't been playing this game competitively (I think I remember you saying that yourself, sorry if I'm mistaken).

Yes. But because he's now posing as an elitist old schooler (who competed in the funner scene because leagues are for wussies) so he has brought new material to the discourse. Sadly, it makes no f@#!ing sense. I don't think he even understands what physics mean in this context.

How are you not banned? You got banned for aliasing to get around another mute/ban, and now you're doing the exact same shit, and throwing around insults as well? f@#! you. You act like a petulant child constantly, argue with everyone about EVERYTHING, and now you're insulting me for no reason other than that you disagree with me. This is hilarious and sad at the same time. What is actually wrong with you? What issues do you face in your life that make you such a bitter, rotten, asshole?

Also, what do you mean 'posing?' I've been playing W:A since day one, and played W2 briefly before that. It doesn't really get much more old school than that. I've already explained that I don't play ranked games primarily because it takes the fun out of playing. I'm not scared to play vs. anyone. I went 1-2 in roper vs. Senator the other day while drunk as hell, lol. Who cares? Ya'll act like the only people who play Worms who have skills are the small handful of people who play TUS constantly, and that's just flat-out wrong.

@MonkeyIsland - will you just ban this jerk already and make all of our lives better? Ropa is a toxic, noxious presence.

so plz dont mess with the roper as i play it 15 years without any changes

Guess you don't remember when they removed the 1x Dynamite that came with the scheme then. The one weapon that gave the scheme another layer of tactical depth, even if barely.

This. I remember dynamite as being a part of the scheme, and I wouldn't mind playing w/ it again, tbh.

As far as what I said about SD, I don't deny it does bring about new strategy, but it's an artificial pressure that doesn't have much of a purpose, IMO, other than to 'shake things up.' Most games end fairly shortly after SD anyway... so why not just extend the round time by 10 minutes? The only time ropers ever drag out is if both players are noobing it up and don't attack, or are just getting extremely shit crates. SD in roper interrupts the flow of the game, and I don't like it.

SD is fine for certain schemes, but in general I would prefer to play without it. How many times have you played a T17 only to draw due to both teams drowning? It sucks and feels like a huge waste of time.

I would avoid behavior as annoying as that too. Is there some rule that dictates that you have to play a game vs. someone if they ask?
#495
SD has always been more annoying than anything. I hate SD in almost any scheme, to be honest. I'd rather fight it out to the end without being bothered with that.
