Schemes / Re: Ideas for TUS schemes
« on: April 14, 2021, 04:30 AM »
Another example of gifs of plays of a scheme I remembered now: Neocombat wiki article (which was transfered from Scheme ideas to Schemes page now, and is supported by HostingBuddy)

And I said about the ideal dimensions of the scheme icon, because I often upload an image that doesn't appear the way I wanted, being hard to distinguish when you are seeing the schemes list in TUS. I completely forget sometimes that I can upload scheme icons that are gifs and not simple images... I may do a gif icon one day... I just hope I use the right dimensions.

Schemes / Re: Ideas for TUS schemes

By the scheme gif I thought about like a banner image (animated or not) in addition to the scheme icon. The icon represents the scheme as a symbol, the banner would be like a concept image to people understand about the scheme with a blink of an eye. Afterall human beings are a species that is oriented mainly by the vision, like all species of our order: Primates. This banner image could also be simply a gif of an outstanding play of the scheme.

Examples:

In my scheme Flat Earth Apocalypse I used the scheme icon and the "banner", the conceptual image.
https://www.tus-wa.com/schemes/scheme-3375/

In Driver scheme article, there is a gif of a play by Korydex and a conceptual image (but there is not a scheme icon)
https://worms2d.info/Driver

In Space Cows TUS scheme page, TBikelis used the scheme icon and a banner image to display the ideal map of the scheme.
https://www.tus-wa.com/schemes/scheme-3459/

In SiD's Hoops, this gif shows exactly what the scheme is about (like a banner too)
https://www.tus-wa.com/schemes/scheme-2459/

The scheme sbs and I worked together and it is semi-released (the full release will arrive soon, with a better graphics map) called Drive for Weapons has a provisory scheme icon and two "banner" gifs
https://worms2d.info/Drive_for_Weapons

About the scheme teaser/trailer video, this one available in Rope Knocking TUS scheme page is a good example, but DumbBongChow was very good doing that too.
https://www.tus-wa.com/schemes/scheme-3748/

About the inspirational schemes, the idea is more for a good practice, since everybody inspires in already existing things to create a new one. Being clear which are your influences on creating schemes, avoid making people think you copied the idea of a scheme and tried to promote your scheme instead of giving credits to the previous similar idea. It is also good to understand how the schemes evolve around WormNET. For example, people keep accusing Kradie that he just copy ideas and change the name saying is something new, what I think it is not true. He does create a lot of variations, but they are not equal to the previous schemes. Here Kradie says he created Total Time Trial Rope Race based on Kaleu's Freemediate. That is a good practice. This may avoid people speculating and questioning the similarities between Drill Fly, Drill Flier and Darts scheme (https://worms2d.info/Darts#History). I created Jet Pack War based on Hysteria and Jet Pack War is not a variation of Hysteria in my opinion. I created Boom for Weapons based on Boom Race and Walk for Weapons.

Another thing I think it would be good is something BlameThePixel used to have: A field for the scheme authorship, this way we can know that the uploader of the scheme is not the scheme author. In this BTP page FoxyLady uploads GhostKnocking saying Garg0yle is the author (it seems Deadcode is a co-author as it is written on the wiki aricle). In TUS, people may think that Warg is the Author of Ghost Knocking: https://www.tus-wa.com/schemes/scheme-169/. The same way I already thought that TOMT was the author of Goku Battle Arena, until I play with pavlepavle and discover that pavlepavle is the author (even though TOMT helped on the scheme and made a map), not only me thought TOMT was the author. I don't doubt that people may think that GreeN might be the author Hysteria due to this page, when the truth is that Run created it. The authorship is important to show people that schemes do not appear from nowhere, they exist because one or more people created them. Even Shopper has an author: Dogma. The other old schemes we just don't know who created them, but they were developed due to players effort. So schemes are always being created and are always evolving in worms. I don't understand why people only play the same schemes, when this game has so many possibilities... And TUS is a platform that provides a lot of these possibilities.

OK I'll include those new fields for schemes.

Awww

That would be amazing!

Other possible fields: scheme gif, scheme trailer/teaser video, inspirational schemes (influences), etc.

Schemes / Ideas for TUS schemes
« on: April 13, 2021, 06:12 AM »
May I suggest something for TUS website (not necessarily the app)? I think the scheme upload/editor could receive some new fields. There are many schemes which have completely blank description. This is not the ideal. I think some Scheme Setup fields would be good, because they would encourage players to put more information about the schemes. For example, a field with the number of worms, a field with the map requirements, a description and maybe a slot for map examples (download links). A section just for the rules of the scheme... Even sections for the history of the development of the scheme or the scheme tactics/tips would be good. Of course these fields don't need to be mandatory, but I believe at least people would think more about describing the scheme they made. Scheme making beginners don't know very well that many people will have no idea about the scheme if they don't write about it. Another thing I would like to know is the scheme image/icon ideal dimensions (this could be informed too). Maybe the text box could have a pre-written suggestion text to encourage people to write, but if they don't write anything, it would still be in blank.

Schemes Comments / Scheme #3850, 1BungeeSurf submitted by DENnis
« on: April 04, 2021, 10:28 PM »
Hi DENnis, interesting idea. Do you know that with 3.8 update, with the extended options you don't need to type TS to use TS features anymore? Also, I didn't try  your map yet, I will have to do it soon, lol, but if your scheme is about surfing with your own worm, you might want to try to add ZERO seconds grenades to your scheme, so that the nades will blow instantly on the worm using bungee. There is a Bungee version of Darts that uses this feature. Another thing I would like to say is that I plan to write an article about your scheme known as Rowy. Specially now that it is supported by HostingBuddy. I need a lot of information, it would be good to see information about this scheme in WKB.

I'm happy to see Rowy available on HB schemes and also as a WMDB category! BTW I think WMDB should have way more categories, because there are many schemes with lots of maps that are not there... Example: Surf Race. Also I do want to see Board Games being available in HB schemes. For example someone writes "!host Board Game", then HB hosts it and download a random map from Board Game category in WMDB and also download the scheme attached to that map automatically. I believe this shouldn't be so hard to implement. Another thing I think HB should do is to inform the rules of the scheme automatically to players either as a link to a WKB article or TUS scheme page or simply a text explaining them. I know HostingBuddy is not very localized and many people don't understand english, but this would at least make people know why they got kicked so much when they join a game, and would make them learn how to play the schemes. Also, it would be good if they learn some etiquette from the game.

Schemes / Re: Hysteria - telecow
« on: April 04, 2021, 01:00 AM »

Edit - Oh, nice reply FoxHound, have you thought about creating your own scheme to make it less strategy based and more artillery based?

Yes, I thought about making a 3.8 Hysteria version in this artillery direction and having no rules, but I do think Kaleu's Selecsteria is a good 3.8 version of Hysteria. I still need to play it more times to form a solid opinion about Selecsteria gameplay, but the games I played with him were very good, because it has no rules and there is no excessive use of the worm rotation (avoiding the word abuse as you shared the dictionary meaning). Actually you can hide worms in caves saving them for later while you attack always with the same worm.

The only changes I would make to Selecsteria would be adding 9 seconds grenades and add Phased Worms (Allied) Worms + Weapons feature to avoid the "instant self-hit bazooka phenomenon" (even with the petrol flamelets issue), to allow Jet Pack bazooka shots against the wind with no fear of exploding your own worm. Maybe random worm order instead of selecting worms. Too radical changes to the scheme would'nt be so accepted by the players, and wouldn't be an original scheme. It would be just another Hysteria variation around WormNET and I already created 2 Hysteria variations (1HP Hysteria and Hyteria Arsenal) and 1 one different scheme based on it (Jet Pack War). I plan to update these schemes to 3.8 one day, I already started to test a Jet Pack War update, but I'm more focused on 3 other schemes right now: one is a Conventional gameplay scheme, other is a roping (battle) scheme and the last one I'm about to release is called Destructible Walk for Weapons (the name says everything you should know about it) and all people I played enjoyed the idea.

Schemes / Re: Hysteria - telecow

Being sincere, I avoid abusing the worm rotation when I play Hysteria. I do prefer playing it essencially as an artillery scheme rather than a tactical scheme. In my opinion, the rotation abuse removes the full potencial of the scheme to be a complete artillery game. And that is what Hysteria is to me. It is a multiple weapon options 1 second artillery scheme specialized on quick thinking of (hot)key combinations.

Hysteria for me is the best of the best artillery scheme of WA. For me, it is better than BnG that only uses two weapons (even though they are the most versatile and hard to master weapons), Hysteria is better than Forts which many times end on the Sudden Death in a way that the whole game seems to be a complete beating around the bush thing until Sudden Death that will decide the game on the very end with the girders on the top of the forts of each team. One of the most unique things I like in forts are the Sheep Launcher + Low Gravity throws. They are amazing and I don't understand why people don't like Sheep Launcher + LG in Forts.

Hysteria is incredible, because you have the Jep Pack that makes the scheme a lot more interesting, and players really need to be agile on the keyboard combo keys. The Hot-Seat time is also something important in this scheme because you really need to think what you are going to do on that 1 second. Even teleporting in one second is funny, it is challenging. So, I really think that worm rotation abuse is not the ideal scenario to play an artillery game like Hysteria is.

Aerial is also an amazing scheme, that for me is very similar to hysteria, but more focused on jet pack.

You should really try Selecsteria then.

I don't know how to reproduce it, but I've seen it a couple of times. The article has few information about this glitch, but it has to do with the end of the turn time and frames. It doesn't say the precise numbers and the exact situation.

Schemes Comments / Re: Hysteria scheme, By GreeN

Ah, I forgot to say here that I already tested Phased Worms (Allied) Worms+Weapons in Selecsteria with Kaleu. He decided not to add it to the scheme, due to the flamelets of the Petrol Bomb. The flames do not burn allied worms (the flames should burn anyone or at least receive colors to differ the flames of the players). This really impacts the gameplay, and I think he decided correctly, this is not nice and Hysteria without petrols would be worse. However he really enjoyed the Jet Pack shots, it is way better quality of life. If it weren't for the petrol issue, he would apply this feature to the scheme. I think the same, I also think this feature is perfect for Roper and other schemes that attack using the jet pack or ninja rope with certain speed, including AFA Shopper. I added this feature to my scheme Colossal Shopper.

EDIT: Another thing I thought now, is that Hysteria with LG might be interesting with 9 seconds grenades.

I'm currently working with a lot of procrastination on 3 new schemes aside this one (which I procrastinated a lot too). I still need a good replay file and I might substitute some of the mandatory rules by some of the optional rules and vice versa. I also want to write more scheme articles on Scheme ideas page, possibly the next ones will be from Proof of Concept community (I'll seek for information about the schemes).
